Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a release.
Law enforcement state they were contacted late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Officers then located multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police report initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"There is still no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the residents for information.
A senior representative commented the incident made him stunned and had to be resolved promptly.
"This event affects the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the far-right terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the murder of nine people by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
