The former Brazilian leader has been taken into custody after authorities concluded he posed a definite escape threat while under home confinement.

The one-time leader was found guilty of planning a armed takeover in the ninth month and given more than over two decades in jail, but he continued under house arrest pending court reviews.

Top Judicial Official Justice Moraes said the move to detain the septuagenarian politician was a precautionary step after fresh information were revealed.

They also petitioned that Bolsonaro be authorized to depart his residence for healthcare, saying he demanded regular treatment for lung conditions and other health problems.

Details of Guilty Verdict

The former president was determined responsible of heading a conspiracy aimed at retaining his authority after he was defeated in the 2022 election to his political opponent, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
